Master Class Presentations - by Roster Artists
Established
artists share their knowledge and experience of the art of performing
by working with singers in a Master Class. Organizations such as educational
institutions and opera company apprentice programs engage a master teacher
to present a class. The sponsor selects some singers to perform a piece
before an audience of other students, resident artists, and faculties
of the sponsoring body, with the guest artist coaching the performer.
The master teacher suggests ways the singer
can improve the selection in style, interpretation, presentation, and
technical points such as vocal freedom, breathing, and diction. Stage
Directors may address the communication aspects of the performance, body
language, and physical elements. These comments are addressed to both
the artist and the audience. The singer repeats sections of the music,
endeavoring to incorporate the suggestions.
It is enlightening to all to see the improvement
that can be attained in a brief period. Each singer usually receives up
to a half hour coaching, with flexibility for the guest teacher to determine
the most appropriate time period as he/she works with the singer.
Below is a brief summary on each artist who is available for these
presentations. The link will take you to their resume, photos, and other
PR materials.
